What is the best way to approach local businesses about my beauty product brochure?
I just started to sell beauty products (cosmetics and skincare) and want to leave my brochure at local businesses showcasing various products. How should I approach them and what should I say?What is the best way to approach local businesses about my beauty product brochure?
Think about what's in it for them? If they can make a profit that will be great. If you are just leaving brochures most small businesses are o.k. with that- it just depends. Here are some tips.
1. When you call on them, make sure you are dressed as a professional.
2. Get the name of the owner or the decision maker.
3. Ask for the decision maker and set an appointment (they
might want to meet with you on the spot).
4. Make sure your brochures are crisp- no bends.
5. Introduce yourself, thank them for meeting with you, ask If you can get 15 minutes of their time. Talk about your brochures and products and what you want them to do with them.
Make sure you know your products, and be prepared to answer questions.
If there is a profit for them let them know. i.e. Mr. Business man, thank you for meeting with me, I would like to show you how you can increase your profits by.... If you need more time during the meeting ask him/her is it o.k.

If your local library may be able to get hold of it via the inter-library loan scheme, but it's most likely that you'll need to hire it directly from the publishers
there are various places that have the music but those are the places where you get the rights generally. They will send you the music and the script and will require it back as soon as your lease is done or they will tack on extra costs...
and if all else fails ask the company where u can find the music because you will need copies for each instrumentalist, and the conductors score...

I'm planning on starting cosmetology school this August and in the meantime I'm looking for something that'd compliment my future school schedule (Tues-Sat 9:30-5:00). My cousin is a qualified hair dresser and beauty therapist. I'm a professional photographer. So the idea is, we would go the client's home where they would request however many beauty/hair treatments they wanted in order to make them look beautiful for a photo shoot afterwards. I spent this valentines day in a spa getting everything done. After about 5 hours, I was bored to tears.
You should have young, informed stylists - not Suzy's Mom or Aunt who's reading teen beat,but someone we can relate with.What does the younger generation like to see in a modern beauty salon?
I live in Chicago, and a lot of places that target the young and hip offer martinis and manicures a few nights a week and show fun television like American Idol or Project Runway. It builds buzz about the salon, and it becomes more of a fun destination than a necessary evil.
Go to a mall in the big city. Its har dto go after two demographics. Anyway consider the age of people working for you. Consider your deco. Just the style of the building (inside and out) will do a lot. Some nice paint on the walls very modern also some cheap modern paintings. Maybe music,etc.
Now product. This is number one. If you have the drive in you be creative. Look for the latest trends. Take your research further. We can all look at magazines but look at european culture and styles. Look at things happening n the west coast. Be the first to bring things to the east coast or America.
Not just hair styles either. YOu can find some great products out there from dyes,spray etc if you are always looking and talking to people from many places.
I would suggest starting another question asking about the latest styles etc.
Also adverts, if you do any try new places. Next pick your price most kids have 100% disposable income so consider this. When things cost more people are more attracted to it. Always remember to offer a product worth the mark up.

1) cappuccino machine
2) foutain soda
3) nice TV in waiting area
if business picks up I would put small flat screens at each chair. However I am thinking total revamp and going 100% modern. However location may not be worth the extreme investment.
for starters, drop the ';beauty salon'; thing and revamp/rename as a salon and day spa. Add massage therapy, mud bathes, cucumber facials etc. and you will make a bundle

You didn't state your age, but you probably have friends, employees, neighbors, people at your church who have family members who are part of the ';younger generation';.
Gather them together, get some refreshments, ask them what sort of stuff they look for in a beauty salon, what's it look like, what are the employees like, what sort of services do they offer? Let them all just throw out ideas - don't reject anything.
Another thought is if there is a college/university/community college or area high school talk to the teacher/instructor and see if they'd be willing to take it on as a class project (finding out what people want) - you could even offer to pay a reasonable amount (the teacher could probably help you figure out a fair amount) and make it an actual job (so you don't look like you're trying to mooch of the students!). It would be good experience for somebody interested in a career in marketing or advertising.
Some things are also going to be affected by your location. You mentioned you're in a small town in NJ - if you're close to somewhere like NYC, you'd do something different than if you were in a small town in the middle of nowhere.
You might also be able to ';scout'; the competition. Find a place that caters to the clientle you're trying to pick up - and then see what they have to offer (don't take notes while you're in there - that'd be too conspicuous). I'd try and find several (at least 3 or 4) so that you can get a representative sample. You might be able to deduct any travel off of your taxes as well (check with your tax advisor).
If you have any sort of industry magazine (something for salon owners), you could write in to them - or check for articles.
Also look for magazines that cater to your target audience. Look through them (maybe goto the library and look through back issues) and see sort of articles they have on hairstyles, or trips to the salon.

It seems gross, but try this! Get a banana, cut it up, and mash it in a bowl until it is as smooth as possible. Then apply the mush all over your face, like a face mask.

I read in the Stories For the Innocent by Sri Rajaji (first Governor General of India, the votary for free enterprise when the ruling Congress was following Decmocratic Socialism, Gandhian Reformist, man of letters and a multi faceted personality) about how the child of a hunch backed and bow legged woman (often jeered by the local urchins for her crooked back and strained movements) was asked by another boy why his mother was so ugly. The child replied that he did not find anything ugly about his mother. She was beautiful in her smile and voice, said the tiny tot..! The great writer wanted us to know that beauty was not in the body contours but in the innocence and love exuded by one, on others.
I found the wrinkled face of the Mother Theresa holding an emaciated child in her weak arms, most moving and beautiful. Have you seen the photo of octogenarian Gandhi laughing aloud showing his toothless mouth ? I have heard everyone admire the innocence of that laugh, as if he was our own father!
I dont know what you have in mind but can say that beauty associated with youth and perfect elegance of features are either envied or desired to be possessed but the beauty of the kind hearted of all ages, are ever in bloom.. A word of caution however has been rightly struck by a few here.. There are a few really alluring faces that look innocent in look and speech but may be very misleading in the merits of human values.
I was smart in my youth and did envy my peers who looked better with less cosmetics..! But even then I was attracted to less showy but mild mannered seniors and juniors without reason and also found that many were so attracted to them as well. God has put angels among us and I believe that when you encounter one of these lovely creatures you are immediately charmed and feel great warmth. You don't even know the effect they have on you until moments after you part and then the moment is gone and you have the beautiful memory of that feeling and will know where that feeling comes from the next time you encounter one of these heavenly beings.

Salic Acid is good for helping clear acne, but most of the time it doesn't really matter what acids are in your lotions/creme. Mostly you want a product that is neither acidic or basic-therefore it has a ph value of zero. Because too much acid or base is not good for your skin.

Art is an expression of feeling, an outpouring of the soul, if you will. As feelings are not always beautiful nor even socially acceptable, so it is with art as well. My guess is that for much of humankind beautiful feelings number less than 50% of all feelings. Would you want to quell all of the larger portion of human feeling just because it is not beautiful? That smacks of Orwellian logic, and in fact Big Brother has made this attempt more than once. He has always failed and always will because the human spirit craves expression and if suppressed for any length of time will build in pressure until it finds an outlet even if it must explode like a volcano. The ARCHIBALD Art prize in Australia is a prime example. Also look at architechs awards for buildings/houses, no one else would give the ones with an award an award. Look at fashion awards, most people consider them rubbish. To me there is outer and inner beauty , what you see and what you feel, sometimes the two never meet.

Is it just not pleasing to the eyes?
Does it stir up dark or negative emotions/memories, so you consider it ugly?
For me, art captures ';truth'; in a new way that can be understood not just on the intellectual level.
It can be a literal truth -- such as a realistic pencil drawing of an old man or whatever -- if it is perfectly crafted. The craftsmanship in this case is art to me, and beautiful.
There is also a physical reaction -- the aesthetic. I can find both pleasant and disturbing pieces of art to be ';beautiful'; (although I usually call the disturbing ones ';haunting'; instead). An example of the latter would be the works of Giger (who, as his most well-known achievement, designed the Alien creature for the series of movies). His art is just creepy, but I can't look away.
In any case, beautiful art is evocative, and art that can generate spontaneous feelings in the audience is effective.
Finally, art for me is usually a deep philosophical truth about life, captured in the work itself. Often the most powerful truths for me are the bittersweet ones.
I can watch a movie about the breakdown of a family (such as ';The Squid and the Whale';) and find it 'beautiful' in that it was honest to real life, despite how terrible some of the behavior is. Or American Beauty, which depicts the same sort of stuff -- deep truth encapsulated in agonzing relationships.
Or I can find ';Passion of the Christ'; beautiful in its own way, despite many people not being able to stomach it -- because the artistry involved and the level of sacrifice being shown is a deep truth.
As far as your comparison of love and art and ugly/beautiful, that's a really interesting question.
I think it comes down to this:
Art can be executed well and still be disturbing/ugly, so you can respect it for the craftsmanship at some level if it is well done or creates the sort of feeling you were hoping for inside.
Love cannot be executed well and NOT be love. If loving isn't done ';right,'; it's now hate, not love. People do not want to experience the feelings that hate generates. There is nothing to respect; and everything to loathe..
(As an extreme example, I suppose some people can ';respect the Nazis'; for their efficiency and whatever, but the majority of people find what they did to be loathsome.)

Taking a slightly different tact, and a specific example: You can take a child/person who is deformed in some way and unsettling/ugly to look at, and show them enacting a specific act of kindness and beauty of spirit, and thus you can find the person beautiful to the heart even if the eye is unsettled by what it sees.

I dye my hair at home every 1.5 months, usually using the cheapest or close to cheapest brand available. My hair is undamaged and I have never gotten poor or unwanted results. I have friends that have gotten dye jobs in salons, and although I would recommend salon highlighting, I did not notice a difference between a salon job or a home job if the dye was a single color. The difference between dying your hair yourself at home and going to a GOOD salon (NOT Fantastic Sam's or any place in a mall) is the way your hair will look. It is WORTH the extra money to have a hair color specialist examine your hair and prescribe the best color combination for your hair texture and they can also help you choose a flattering shade for your skin coloring. Do NOT put color on your own hair, I promise you, it will look like crap 80% of the time.

What are your favourite beauty treatments?
My favourite are massages like aromatherapy massages, not rough ones like swedish massage, I find them so relaxing and I sleep so well that night.. and I also love facials because my skin feels amazingly fresh and clean afterwards and is literally glowing for days. I don't like manicures and pedicures because I do my nails myself and they look fine and I use L'Occitane footcream every night so they are baby-soft.
