How has the perception of beauty evolved over the centuries?

Is beauty always linked with trends? I think the new millenium has witnessed some drastic changes in the view of 'beautiful'...How has the perception of beauty evolved over the centuries?
It remained and continues to be held by the beholder...How has the perception of beauty evolved over the centuries?
Depends what you mean by beauty? If you mean physical beauty, then yes it is linked to trends. No one thinks that curvaceous and rubenesque is ';beautiful'; any more... Marilyn Monroe would been labelled FAT if she were alive today.

BUT things in nature which an individual finds beautiful remains so and doesn't change over time. Beauty is an opinion really isn't it? Its in the eye of the beholder... You might think a piece of art is beautiful whilst I might hate it and think its an eye sore! Neither one of us are right or wrong... its a matter of opinion.

To me beauty is the things which take my breath away. The glorious sunrise / sunset. The beauty of a flower... the beauty and simplicity of a baby's smile! Something beautiful to me creates a warm feeling inside.
The beaury is universal category.Kant says :beautiful is that who liked in necesary mode everyone, without neither interest just purely his forme.I think to tell the truth.
