Who decided that girls in beauty pageants should look like they are from 1985?

I'm not a big fan of beauty pagents in general. But if you are going for pure beauty, I feel that most women look a lot better in understated makeup, smoother hair, and less gaudy clothing. Who in the heck thinks red glitter, 2 foot high hair, and oompa loompa tans emphasize beauty?Who decided that girls in beauty pageants should look like they are from 1985?
i have always wondered that myself. i think its gross and stupid looking. luckly the dresses have gotten CONSIDERABLY less gaudy since 1985. the two foot hair and oompa loompa tans seem to be here to stay thoughWho decided that girls in beauty pageants should look like they are from 1985?
i guess the beauty pagents started/got popular near 1985 and its just a tradition i guess. i like it loads though!
